You will read Jared Diamond’s article “The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human Race” – found in the Moodle Assignment folder. This article reviews the transition from hunting and gathering to agriculture, and the consequences that followed. Diamond takes a very opinionated stance on this transition and marks it as “the worst mistake” humans ever made. For the assignment, you will either completely agree or completely disagree (even if you don’t – this is an argument) with Diamond’s argument. You will write one page expressing your side of this debate (I want you to agree b/c it is easier to cite evidence). Write a 1-page (do NOT go over), single-spaced, 12-point, Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins paper. This should be ~500 words in total. You MUST cite evidence from the article to make your points, as well as one other academic article, which must also be cited within your paper and referenced at the end. The case study from Assignment 4 might be relevant. Grammar and spelling matter, so be sure to proofread before printing.
