Sociological Imagination Essay Introduction & Planning So the 1st thing we’re going to do choose
content wise is that you want to provide an explanation of what sociological imagination is so. The 1st thing that I will I would want is, assume your audience. Me has 0 background in sociology.
The reason why that is a great thing to have in mind is because they can allow you to put that extra detail and explanation that you need in order for me to really envision and visualize what sociological imagination is. assume your audience does not have a background in sociology. I would suggest writing maybe 4 to 7 sentences about what sociological imagination is. I would suggest not putting any examples of what sociological imagination is. You just want to put
kind of concrete information about what C. Wright Mills was trying to convey in this notion of sociological imagination. The second content is that you want to provide a brief description of what your personal situation is so to make it really clear. make sure you’re making that personal connection to what this situation is. So really, what we’re going to be focusing on here is when we’re looking at this idea of sociological imagination, we’re looking at how a larger societal issue can impact us .s. Remember, a theory cannot be used as a concept. A theory cannot be used as a concept. When we’re looking at concepts, we could be looking at social agents. We can be looking at ethnocentrism, cultural relativism.
race ethnicity, racism. Those are examples of concepts.
So you want to choose 3 different chapters. It can be from chapter 2, 4, and 6 from Conerly, T. R., Holmes, K., & Tamang, A. L. (2022). Introduction to sociology 3e. OpenStax. https://openstax.org/books/introduction-sociology-3e/pages/1-introduction If you want
The concepts that you use do not have to be from the chapters that we have gone over. If you feel there is a chapter in the book that best aligns with your paper or your personal situation. Better feel free to use that.I want to give you free autonomy to do that.
So you can really build that personal connection to
sociological imagination and your personal situation.
One really important factor is.do not use sociological imagination book. Do not use that book. That is not where you’re going to get the 3 chapters you are going to get the 3 chapters from our textbook. We have not read soci sociological imagination by C. Wright Mills. So that is not where you’re going to getthe theories or the concepts.
Next, we have sociological theory
that can be some bulk, interactionism, functionalism, conflict theory. Those are examples of theories that you can use. Again, if you would like to use a different theory that we may not have gone over yet. It’s okay.
But you want to make sure you are using. I would suggest one theory
you do not have to use more than one I would suggest using one, because that will allow you to build a tighter and stronger connection to your personal situation, and how that would relate to sociological imagination.
Lastly, Apa. Formatting.
you want to make sure your paper is formatted in Apa. 7. Not mla, not ap.
But apa. 7. I will provide you with a resource that shows
a student
paper that has been written in Apa. 7. If you follow that template you will have no problem getting full credit on or getting credit for that aspect of it.
But I just want to show everybody what
your title page
needs to look like
This is an example
that I
got from Owl Purdue. I just put it on my own document, so it doesn’t have the annotations. So 1st thing you want to do. You want to have your title?
You want to put your title in bold.
Next.
you want to put a space between your title
and your name. So if you see
that’s doesn’t quite adhere to Apa. 7, you want to hit. Enter one more time. So you have that extra space.
Then you want to have your name.
You want to have
the the department. You can put Arts and Sciences, or I would.
or you could put the sociology department.
They need to put sociology.
Your name. And then the date in which you have written your paper.
