Sport Science Investigative Prospectus
The final project for this class involves creating an inquiry into some aspect of sport science, sport performance or sport medicine that you may want to try and find an answer or delve deeper into the research regarding.
For this assignment, you are expected to create a modified investigative prospectus. A true research prospectus may be a 20-25 page in-depth presentation or review on a topic. For I am asking you to cover the following areas in 2-3 pages.
• Introduce and describe your topic of interest
• State what you already know about it and why this topic is important to you, to the field, in general, or interesting
• State the primary question you hope to have answered surrounding the topic
• Propose what you believe to be the truth regarding the topic (hypothesis)
• Write out a brief literature review (5-7 sources) including information already known or leading to the topic
• Indicate if there are any significant counter-arguments to your working thesis
• Explain why researching this topic further is significant and interesting (how does your thesis pass the “so what?” test?) What might be gained from this research?
Provide a full APA cited bibliography of all research used, at least 5-7 sources.
